Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Mouse Serum. Reactivity is observed against recombinant Green Fluorescent Protein (Aequorea victoria) by Western blot. No reaction is seen against RFP.
Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains green fluorescent protein (GFP Tag) that emits light in bioluminescence reactions. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms, and as a protein tag in cell culture and multicellular organisms. It enables visualization of protein localization, movement, and subcellular dynamics.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms a fluorescent pigment autonomously. The wild-type protein absorbs blue light (max 395 nm) and emits green light (peak 508 nm) without additional cofactors. GFP fluorescence is stable, species-independent, and suitable for various applications including gene expression monitoring, protein localization, protein–protein interaction studies, and FRET experiments.
