Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
6X His Tag Antibody is directed against the 6X His motif and is useful in determining its presence in various assays. This monoclonal antibody detects overexpressed proteins containing the 6X His epitope tag. It has shown reactivity with all His-tagged proteins tested. In western blotting of bacterial extracts, it does not cross-react with endogenous proteins. The antibody recognizes the His-tag (His-His-His-His-His-His) fused to either the amino- or carboxy-termini of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly expressed at either N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to facilitate isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC). Epitope tagging enables detection of recombinant proteins for which no specific antibody exists. His-tagged proteins are purified based on the strong and selective affinity between histidine residues and metal ions such as Ni²⁺ on Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents. His tag-specific antibodies are widely used for detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
