Target Information

LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency increases HDL levels in animal models.
LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity, contributing to lipid metabolism and vascular biology. It belongs to the TG lipase family and acts as a carboxyl esterase that hydrolyzes high-density lipoproteins, emulsifies triglycerides, and binds to heparin.
