Product Specific Information

The antibody detects 42 and 44 kDa proteins corresponding to ERK1 and ERK2 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human A431 epithelial cells stimulated with EGF or calyculin A. It does not detect bands in control cells.

Target Information

MAPK3 (ERK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that activates p90 RSK, MSK, ELK1, and Stat3, and is involved in the MAPK pathway. ERK1 is widely expressed and regulates meiosis, mitosis, and post-mitotic functions. It responds to various stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, virus infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands. ERK1 participates in signaling cascades controlling proliferation, differentiation, and cell cycle progression. Activated ERK1 translocates to the nucleus to phosphorylate nuclear targets. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms of ERK1 have been described.
