Target Information
STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a critical role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferon (IFN-α and IFN-β) expression, establishing an antiviral state. STING may also function as a translocon, influencing type I interferon induction and apoptotic signaling through its association with MHC-II. It is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane and is expressed ubiquitously across tissues.
