Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine IL-1α. Anti-Murine IL-1α-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect mIL-1α by sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well antibody solution), use 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, together with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Murine IL-1α (500-P51A) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of recombinant mIL-1α.

Western Blot:
For Western blot analysis, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Detection limit for recombinant mIL-1α is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-1α (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is encoded by the IL1A gene located on chromosome 2q13. IL-1α signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1β, and plays a key role in innate immunity by inducing other proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase responses. Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA). IL-1α influences NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways and stimulates IL-6 and COX-2 expression. Elevated IL-1α levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
