Product Specific Information

The 1D11 monoclonal antibody reacts with human NKG2D, a 42 kDa lectin-like molecule expressed by NK cells, γδ T cells, CD8+ T cells, and some CD4+ T cells.
NKG2D forms complexes with DAP10 and can co-stimulate multiple NK activation receptors. Its counter-receptors, MICA/MICB, are expressed on epithelial tumors such as lung, breast, kidney, ovary, prostate, and colon carcinoma.
Antibodies 5C6 and 1D11 block binding of soluble MICA to γδ TCR T cell clones and inhibit lysis by these cells. These antibodies induce NKG2D-mediated redirected lysis of Fc receptor-bearing P815 cells.

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells.

Target Information

Natural killer (NK) cells mediate lysis of tumor and virus-infected cells without prior activation. They regulate humoral and cell-mediated immunity and express calcium-dependent (C-type) lectins involved in NK cell function.
The NKG2 gene family encodes type II transmembrane proteins with C-type lectin domains, located within the NK complex region containing lectin genes preferentially expressed in NK cells.
