Product Specific Information
The DTA-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse GITR (Glucocorticoid-Induced TNFR family gene, TNFRSF18).
In naive mice, GITR is expressed predominantly by CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (Treg) and CD25+ CD4+ CD8- thymocytes.
Stimulation of GITR with DTA-1 antibody abrogates Treg cell-mediated suppression and can induce tumorogenesis.
Administration or removal of GITR-expressing Treg cells may result in organ-specific autoimmune disease.

Target Information
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 18 (TNFRSF18), also known as GITR or AITR, is encoded by the TNFRSF18 gene located at 1p36.33.
This receptor is upregulated upon T-cell activation and plays a key role in maintaining immunological self-tolerance via CD25(+)CD4(+) regulatory T cells.
Knockout studies indicate roles in CD3-driven T-cell activation and apoptosis regulation.
Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
