Target Information
TNFRSF14 is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily and acts as a cellular mediator of herpes simplex virus (HSV) entry. HSV glycoprotein D (gD) binds TNFRSF14 as part of the viral entry mechanism. The cytoplasmic region interacts with TRAF family members, mediating immune response signal transduction. Activation in T cells promotes proliferation and cytokine production, contributing to inflammation and enhanced CTL-mediated tumor immunity. TNFRSF14 may serve as a potential target for regulating cellular immune responses. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though not all full-length forms have been characterized.
