Target Information
TNFRSF14 is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily and acts as a cellular mediator of herpes simplex virus (HSV) entry. Binding of HSV glycoprotein D (gD) to TNFRSF14 facilitates viral entry. The cytoplasmic region interacts with TRAF family members to mediate signal transduction pathways that activate immune responses. Activation of TNFRSF14 in T cells promotes proliferation, cytokine production, inflammation, and CTL-mediated tumor immunity. These properties suggest TNFRSF14 as a potential target for modulation of immune responses. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though some full-length forms remain uncharacterized.
