Target Information
TNFRSF14 is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily and acts as a cellular mediator of herpes simplex virus (HSV) entry. Binding of HSV glycoprotein D (gD) to TNFRSF14 facilitates viral entry. The cytoplasmic region interacts with TRAF family members, mediating immune signal transduction. Activation in T cells promotes proliferation and cytokine production, contributing to inflammation and enhanced CTL-mediated tumor immunity. TNFRSF14 may serve as a target for regulating cellular immune responses. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
