Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45616 was sufficient for detection of Alpha2C Adrenergic Receptor in 20 µg of COS cells transiently transfected with HA-tagged Alpha-lysate and assayed by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects 50 kDa or larger (possibly due to dimerization). Does not cross-react with other adrenergic receptors.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S330A-80.
Target Information
Alpha-2-adrenergic receptors are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, including three highly homologous subtypes: alpha2A, alpha2B, and alpha2C. These receptors regulate neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system.
Mouse studies show both alpha2A and alpha2C subtypes are required for normal presynaptic control of transmitter release. Alpha2A inhibits release at high stimulation frequencies, while alpha2C modulates neurotransmission at lower activity levels.
This gene encodes the alpha2C subtype, which contains no introns in its coding or untranslated sequences.
