Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45615 was sufficient for detection of Alpha-2C Adrenergic Receptor in 20 µg of COS cells transiently transfected with HA-tagged Alpha-lysate and assayed by colorimetric immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Detects 50 kDa or larger (possibly due to dimerization).
- Does not cross-react with other adrenergic receptors.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S330A-80.
Target Information
Alpha-2-adrenergic receptors are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, including three highly homologous subtypes: alpha2A, alpha2B, and alpha2C. These receptors play a key role in regulating neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system.
In mouse studies, both alpha2A and alpha2C subtypes were required for normal presynaptic control of transmitter release. The alpha2A subtype inhibited release at high stimulation frequencies, while the alpha2C subtype modulated neurotransmission at lower activity levels.
The alpha2C gene encodes a subtype lacking introns in both coding and untranslated sequences.
