Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a major non-neuronal microtubule-associated protein. It contains a domain similar to those in neuronal MAP2 and MAPT/TAU, promoting microtubule assembly and stabilizing interphase microtubules. Cyclin B interacts with this protein to target CDC2 kinase to microtubules. Phosphorylation affects microtubule properties and cell cycle progression. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
