Target Information
MAP2K5 (MEK5) serine/threonine kinase, also known as mitogen-activated protein kinase 5, is a dual specificity protein kinase belonging to the MAP kinase family. It specifically interacts with and activates MAPK7/ERK5. MAP2K5 can be phosphorylated and activated by MAP3K3/MEKK3 and atypical protein kinase C isoforms (aPKCs). The MAP2K5 signaling cascade is involved in growth factor-stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. The rs3743354 polymorphism in the MAP2K5 promoter may influence colorectal cancer (CRC) susceptibility.
