Epitope sequence: EQKLISEEDL, located in aa 410–419 of human c-Myc protein.

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on chromosome 8q24. It is commonly activated in tumor cells and plays a key role in:

  • Cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression
  • Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK involved in proliferation regulation
  • Vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development

Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is associated with multiple cancers including lung, breast, colon, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize overexpressed Myc-tagged proteins fused to amino or carboxy termini.
c-Myc-, N-Myc-, and L-Myc-encoded proteins function in cell proliferation, differentiation, and neoplastic disease.
