Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Tyrosinase enzyme catalyzes the initial steps and at least one subsequent step in the conversion of tyrosine to melanin.
This enzyme possesses both tyrosine hydroxylase and dopa oxidase activities and requires copper for its function.
Mutations in the TYR gene are associated with oculocutaneous albinism, while nonpathologic polymorphisms contribute to variations in skin pigmentation.
The human genome also contains a pseudogene similar to the 3' half of this gene.
