Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Tyrosinase catalyzes the first two steps, and at least one subsequent step, in the conversion of tyrosine to melanin. The enzyme exhibits both tyrosine hydroxylase and dopa oxidase catalytic activities and requires copper for function. Mutations in this gene result in oculocutaneous albinism, while nonpathologic polymorphisms contribute to skin pigmentation variation. The human genome also contains a pseudogene similar to the 3′ half of this gene.
