Product Specific Information

The 2C9.G3 (HMb3-1) monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse and rat CD61, also known as integrin beta3. CD61 is expressed by activated T cells, granulocytes, and platelets. It associates non-covalently with integrin alphaV (CD51) to form the vitronectin receptor and with alphaIIb (CD41) to form gpIIb/IIIa. These complexes mediate adhesion to extracellular matrix components including fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin, thrombospondin, and von Willebrand factor.

Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes and bone marrow cells at ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

Target Information

CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It functions as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin, playing a key role in platelet aggregation and cell adhesion. CD61 forms heterodimers with either CD41 (alphaIIb) or CD51 (alphaV). It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts. Dysfunction of CD61 is associated with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
