Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Members of the Id family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins include ID1, ID2, ID3, and ID4. These proteins are ubiquitously expressed and dimerize with class A and B HLH proteins. Due to the absence of the basic region, the resulting heterodimers cannot bind DNA, thus negatively regulating DNA binding of bHLH proteins.
ID proteins inhibit muscle-specific gene expression by preventing Myo D and E12 binding. During muscle differentiation, ID protein levels decrease, allowing formation of Myo D heterodimers that activate myogenic differentiation. Expression of ID proteins depends on growth factor activation, and reduction of ID mRNA delays cell cycle reentry after growth factor stimulation.
