Product Specific Information

The eB121-15F9 monoclonal antibody reacts with the μ heavy chain of mouse IgM. It does not react with other classes of mouse immunoglobulin including IgD, IgG, or IgA. IgM is expressed intracellularly during early stages of B lymphopoiesis and then on the surface of more mature B cells in the bone marrow and peripheral B cells. Fluorochrome-conjugated eB121-15F9 can be used as a detection secondary for mouse IgM.

Applications Reported:
Used for flow cytometric analysis to detect surface IgM on mouse B cells and as a second step to detect primary mouse IgMs.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometry to detect surface IgM on mouse B cells. Recommended ≤ 0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number can range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Target Information

Mouse IgM is an immunoglobulin M antibody produced by B cells in response to antigen exposure. It is the first antibody produced during an immune response and the largest immunoglobulin in serum. Composed of five heavy and five light chains, it contributes to complement activation and antigen agglutination. Mouse IgM plays a key role in innate immunity and pathogen neutralization before adaptive immunity is activated. Commonly used in ELISA, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry research applications.
