Target Information
The DIAPH1 gene is a homolog of the Drosophila diaphanous gene and is associated with autosomal dominant, fully penetrant, nonsyndromic sensorineural progressive low-frequency hearing loss. Actin polymerization involves proteins interacting with diaphanous protein in Drosophila and mouse, suggesting a role in actin polymerization regulation in inner ear hair cells. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
