Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been identified in tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangements involving ALK often result in a fusion gene with nucleophosmin (NPM), producing the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein. ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It plays a crucial role in neuronal development and signaling within the nervous system.
