Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been associated with various tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangements commonly create fusion genes combining ALK and nucleophosmin (NPM), leading to oncogenic activity. The ALK protein contains a transmembrane and extracellular domain, which are absent in the NPM-ALK fusion product. ALK shares high sequence similarity with LTK and is crucial for neuronal development and function.
