Antibody detects endogenous levels of fragment of activated Caspase-1 resulting from cleavage adjacent to Ala317.
Target Information
Caspase-1 (CASP1) is a thiol protease that cleaves IL-1 beta between Asp and Ala, releasing the mature cytokine involved in inflammatory processes. CASP1 is important for defense against pathogens and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs). It also promotes apoptosis. Upon inflammasome activation during DNA virus infection (but not RNA virus challenge), CASP1 controls antiviral immunity through cleavage of CGAS, rendering it inactive.
