Antibody detects endogenous levels of fragment of activated IL-1 beta resulting from cleavage adjacent to Asp116.
Target Information
Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol and is cleaved into an active 17 kDa protein following inflammasome activation. Inflammasomes activate caspase-1, which processes pro-IL-1 beta into its mature form. IL-1 beta is secreted via a non-classical pathway and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors. Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA). Elevated IL-1 beta levels are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions and have potential therapeutic relevance.
