Product Specific Information

Reconstitute with 0.5 mL PBS containing 0.1% BSA.
Prior to reconstitution, store at -20°C.

This antibody may be used in a direct ELISA or as a detection reagent in sandwich ELISA with PA1-86913 as a capture reagent.

Rabbit anti-human insulin-like growth factor I antibody recognizes human IGF-I (Insulin-like Growth Factor I), a 70 amino acid secreted mitogenic polypeptide and member of the insulin gene family, produced primarily by the liver.

Target Information

IGF1 (Insulin-like growth factor-1) is structurally and functionally related to insulin but has a much higher growth-promoting activity. It induces various cellular responses including proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival.

IGF1 stimulates glucose transport in osteoblastic cells and enhances glycogen and DNA synthesis at lower concentrations than insulin. In circulation, IGFs are bound to IGFBPs, which prolong their half-life and assist in tissue delivery.

IGF-I activates the AKT signaling pathway, promoting proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis. Mature human IGF-I is 100% homologous with bovine and porcine proteins. Low levels of IGF1 have been associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Defects in the IGF1 gene cause insulin-like growth factor 1 deficiency, and several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
