Target Information

The muscarinic cholinergic receptors belong to a family of G protein-coupled receptors. Their functional diversity arises from acetylcholine binding, leading to cellular responses such as adenylate cyclase inhibition, phosphoinositide degeneration, and potassium channel mediation. Muscarinic receptors modulate many acetylcholine effects in the central and peripheral nervous systems. The muscarinic cholinergic receptor 3 (CHRM3) regulates smooth muscle contraction and stimulates glandular secretion.
