Product Specific Information
- Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.
- For long-term storage, addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended (unless used for functional studies).
- Prior to reconstitution, store at 4ºC. After reconstitution, store undiluted at -20ºC, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
- This antibody may be used in indirect ELISA or as a capture reagent in sandwich ELISA with PA1-86912 as a detection reagent.
- Rabbit anti-human insulin-like growth factor I antibody recognizes human IGF-I, a 70 amino acid secreted mitogenic polypeptide produced primarily by the liver.
Target Information
IGF1 (Insulin-like growth factor-1) is structurally and functionally related to insulin but has a much higher growth-promoting activity. It induces cellular responses such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival. IGF1 stimulates the proliferation of various cell types in muscle, bone, and cartilage tissue and enhances glucose uptake and glycogen/DNA synthesis at lower concentrations than insulin.
In circulation, IGFs are predominantly bound to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), which prolong their half-life and aid delivery to target tissues. IGF-I is one of the most potent activators of the AKT signaling pathway, stimulating proliferation and inhibiting programmed cell death. Mature human IGF-I is 100% homologous with bovine and porcine proteins. Low levels of IGF1 are associated with Alzheimer’s disease. IGF1 is processed from a precursor, binds to a specific receptor, and is secreted. Defects in the IGF1 gene cause insulin-like growth factor 1 deficiency, and several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
