Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of Tyrosine Hydroxylase only when phosphorylated at Serine 19.


Target Information

Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) is an enzyme involved in the synthesis of catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Catecholamine synthesis is regulated by the interaction of TH with the cofactor tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), which binds to the catalytic domain and activates enzymatic activity.
Human TH has four splice variants (hTH1–hTH4) that share identical catalytic domains but differ in their N-terminal regulatory regions. TH catalyzes the conversion of L-tyrosine to L-dopa and plays a key role in adrenergic neuron physiology.
TH is associated with several neuropathogenic and cardiovascular diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, Segawa syndrome, dystonia, and various heart-related disorders.
