Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed and play crucial roles in the regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells. Various stimuli, including growth factors, cytokines, virus infection, and ligands for G protein-coupled receptors, activate ERK1/2 pathways. Upon activation, ERKs phosphorylate cytoplasmic targets or migrate to the nucleus to activate transcription factors such as c-Fos and Elk-1.
