Product Specific Information

This F5D monoclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, dog, and rat myogenin, a 34-kDa transcription factor expressed in skeletal and heart muscle. Myogenin belongs to the MyoD family of basic-helix-loop-helix proteins, including MyoD, Myf5, and MRF4. It plays a critical role in myogenic differentiation and can direct nonmuscle cells toward the myogenic lineage. Transforming growth factor-beta (TGFβ) and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2) inhibit myogenin transcriptional activity.

Myogenin predominantly resides within the nucleus, with subcellular localization dependent on differentiation status and cell density. During skeletal muscle differentiation, myogenin trafficking between the nucleus and cytoplasm mediates transcription control.

Applications Reported: Immunoblotting (WB) and immunocytochemistry (ICC/IF)

Applications Tested: Tested in western blot and immunocytochemistry using the C2C12 cell line. Recommended concentration ≤ 1–5 µg/mL. Optimize dilution for best assay performance.
