Target Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells defined by kappa or lambda light chain expression. CD19 is also found on certain myeloid leukemia cells, especially those of monocytic lineage.
CD19 is the earliest and broadest B cell–restricted antigen and serves as a key regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation. It functions as a signal-amplifying coreceptor for the B cell receptor (BCR) and can also signal independently. Mutations in CD19 can lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression causes B cell hyperactivity.
