Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD2, a 50 kDa glycoprotein present on human peripheral blood T lymphocytes and NK cells; also expressed by all thymocytes.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) expressed on human T lymphocytes and some NK cells, but not on B lymphocytes. It mediates adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting cells through interaction with CD58. CD2 expression increases upon T-cell activation, enhancing cell-cell contact and adhesion. Dysregulation of CD2 function is associated with immune deficiencies and certain carcinomas.
