Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD19 (B4), a 95 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein (immunoglobulin superfamily) expressed on B lymphocytes and follicular dendritic cells. Expression is lost on plasma cells.
Target Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells and plays a central role in B cell receptor signaling and regulation. CD19 acts as a signal-amplifying coreceptor, lowering the threshold for antigen receptor-dependent stimulation. Mutations can lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, whereas overexpression may cause B cell hyperactivity. CD19 expression is also observed in B cell precursor leukemias and certain myeloid leukemia cells.
