Target Information
This gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. These proteins contain pleckstrin homology (PH) domains and bind SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter protein. They act as adapters transmitting signals in response to cytokine and growth factor receptor stimulation, as well as T- and B-cell antigen receptor activation. The encoded protein is a principal activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase in response to high-affinity IgE receptor activation. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
