Target Information

Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine belonging to the Interleukin-6 superfamily. The IL-12A subunit (p35) forms part of the IL-12 heterodimer and exhibits diverse biological activities, including:

• Acting as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells
• Enhancing lytic activity of NK and lymphokine-activated killer cells
• Stimulating IFN-γ production by PBMCs
• Promoting differentiation of Th1 and Th2 cells
• Regulating tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat4 protein

IL-12A signaling in innate immunity involves nitric oxide synthase 2A. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms IL-35, a cytokine produced by Treg cells essential for suppressive activity.
