This antibody reacts with soluble forms of CD14 found in serum and in the urine of some nephrotic patients.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein that is constitutively expressed on the surface of mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and exists in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. CD14 interacts with lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP) and plays a role in immune response modulation, apoptosis, and inflammatory processes. Dysfunction of CD14 is associated with conditions such as mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
