Product Specific Information
The eBioMC-813-70 monoclonal antibody reacts with a glycolipid carbohydrate epitope on Stage-specific embryonic antigen-4 (SSEA-4) protein. Expression is found on human teratocarcinoma stem cells (EC), embryonic germ cells (EG), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS), and embryonic stem cells (ES), with decreased expression upon differentiation. Expression has also been observed on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.
This antibody has been reported to cross-react with mouse, rabbit, canine, chicken, and both Old and New World monkeys.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometry using 2102Ep cell line. Recommended ≤1 µg/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL. Cell number may vary (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
SSEA-4 (Stage-specific embryonic antigen 4) is a cell surface antigen expressed along with SSEA-3, TRA-1-60, and TRA-1-81 in embryonic stem cells, embryonal carcinoma cells, and iPS cells.
In human cells, SSEA-3/4 and TRA antigens are down-regulated during differentiation, while SSEA-1 is upregulated after retinoic acid-mediated differentiation.
In contrast, mouse stem cells show decreased SSEA-1 and increased SSEA-3/4 expression upon differentiation.
