Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Coagulation factor XIII is the final zymogen activated in the blood coagulation cascade. Plasma factor XIII is a heterotetramer composed of two A subunits and two B subunits. The A subunits have catalytic activity, while the B subunits serve as carrier molecules. Platelet factor XIII consists only of two A subunits identical to those in plasma. Upon activation by thrombin and calcium, the B subunits dissociate, forming active factor XIIIa, which catalyzes crosslinking between fibrin molecules, stabilizing the clot. Factor XIII also crosslinks alpha-2-plasmin inhibitor or fibronectin to fibrin. Deficiency types include:
- Type I: Lack of both A and B subunits
- Type II: Lack of A subunit only
These deficiencies can lead to lifelong bleeding tendency, poor wound healing, and habitual abortion.
