Product Specific Information

This DS8RELM monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse RELM alpha (FIZZ1) and does not cross-react with mouse RELM gamma.
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis. Tested using resident peritoneal macrophages and the Intracellular Fixation & Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product # 88-8824-00) following BestProtocols®: Protocol A.

• Recommended usage ≤ 0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume)
• Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirical determination required)
• Carefully titrate for optimal performance

Fluorochrome Information:
PerCP-eFluor™ 710 emits at 710 nm and is excited with the blue laser (488 nm).
Use 710/50 bandpass filter (695/40 acceptable alternative).
Ensure instrument compatibility.

Light Sensitivity:
Sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect vial and stained samples from light.

Fixation:
Samples may be stored up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark using:

• IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222)
• 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333)

Target Information

RELM alpha (Resistin-like alpha, FIZZ1) is a small cytokine (88 amino acids, MW 9.4 kDa) mainly produced by macrophages.
Highly expressed in peritoneal, alveolar, and adipose tissue macrophages, induced by IL-4 and IL-13.
A hallmark of M2 macrophage polarization (with Arginase 1 and Ym-1).
Not expressed in IL-10–polarized macrophages (M2c).
Elevated levels may indicate parasitic infection.
Humans lack RELM alpha gene, but human Resistin shows similar properties.
Mouse RELM family includes RELM beta, RELM gamma, and Resistin, each with distinct functions and tissue distributions.
