Description:
The eBioBV13 (BV13) monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse VE-Cadherin (CD144). VE-Cadherin is a 120 kDa type II cadherin family member with five extracellular cadherin domains and a cytoplasmic tail that anchors to the actin cytoskeleton. It mediates homophilic adhesion between endothelial cells and is localized at adherens junctions. VE-Cadherin is constitutively expressed throughout the vasculature and is essential for endothelial cell migration, survival, contact-dependent growth inhibition, and tubular structure formation. VE-Cadherin+CD45- cells from the yolk sac or AGM may give rise to hematopoietic cells.

This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of bEnd.3 cells. Recommended use ≤ 0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information
VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein in the cadherin superfamily, located on chromosome 16. It consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It mediates homophilic adhesion and plays a critical role in endothelial cell junction organization. Alternative splice variants exist, though the full-length sequence has not been fully determined.
