The 16B1 antibody reacts with human CD144 (VE-cadherin, cadherin-5). VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent adhesion molecule localized at endothelial cell boundaries in blood and lymphatic vessels. It plays a role in vascular permeability and remodeling.

Target Information
VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein belonging to the cadherin superfamily. It consists of five extracellular repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Located on chromosome 16, it is associated with loss of heterozygosity in breast and prostate cancer. VE-cadherin mediates homophilic adhesion and is crucial for endothelial cell junction organization. An alternative splice variant has been reported.
