STAT5 alpha는 STAT 전사인자 패밀리의 구성원으로, 사이토카인 및 성장인자 자극에 의해 수용체 연관 키나제에 의해 인산화되어 핵으로 이동 후 전사 활성화 인자로 작용합니다. IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin 등 다양한 리간드에 의해 활성화되며, 세포 생존 및 항아폽토시스 기능에 관여합니다. STAT5 alpha와 STAT5 beta는 높은 서열 유사성을 가지며 대부분의 조직에서 함께 발현됩니다. STAT5 alpha는 생식, 수유, 면역 기능 및 체성 성장 등 다양한 생리적 기능에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
