Target Information
FOXC1 is a member of the forkhead family of transcription factors characterized by a distinct DNA-binding forkhead domain. It plays a role in the regulation of the FGF19–FGFR4–MAPK pathway, promoting development and maintenance of anterior segment structures within the eye.
Mutations in FOXC1 are associated with various ocular disorders including glaucoma, iridogoniodysgenesis anomaly, Peters anomaly, and Axenfeld-Rieger anomaly.
