Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody reacts with endogenous NAG-1 protein from human tissues. BLAST analysis indicates reactivity with NAG-1 from human and chimpanzee (100% and 98% homology, respectively), macaque (94% homology), and mouse and rat (70% homology). Cross-reactivity with NAG-1 from other species has not been determined.
Target Information
GDF-15 belongs to the TGF-beta cytokine family, which plays an important role in prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue remodeling and maintenance. GDF-15 is expressed predominantly in the placenta and, to a lesser extent, in various other tissues. Its presence in amniotic fluid and elevated levels in pregnant women’s sera suggest involvement in gestation and embryonic development. GDF-15 generally exhibits tumor suppressive activities and is a major factor produced in response to p53 pathway activation. Serum levels of GDF-15 correlate positively with progression of several tumor types, including colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
