Product Specific Information

• Store anti-IL-3 antibody at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
• Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
• Dilute only prior to immediate use.
• This purified antibody has been heated to 56°C for 30 minutes.
• In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant human IL-3 in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
• A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

Interleukin 3 (IL-3), also known as Mast Cell Growth Factor (MCGF), Multi-Colony Stimulating Factor (multi-CSF), or Eosinophil-CSF (E-CSF), is produced by activated T cells, mast cells, and eosinophils.
IL-3 is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates colony formation of erythroid, megakaryocyte, neutrophil, eosinophil, basophil, mast cell, and monocytic lineages.
Most of these functions are enhanced or dependent on co-stimulation with other cytokines.
Human and mouse IL-3 share only 29% sequence identity at the amino acid level, and the bioactivity of IL-3 is highly species specific — human IL-3 has no activity on mouse cells.
IL-3 supports proliferation of a broad range of hematopoietic cell types and is involved in cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis.
It also possesses neurotrophic activity and may be associated with neurologic disorders.
