Product Specific Information
Carrier-Free
Reconstitution:
- Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening to collect contents at the bottom.
- Reconstitute NP-1 in sterile, distilled water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL.
- Do not vortex.
- Store reconstituted solution at 2–8°C for up to 1 week.
- For extended storage, dilute in buffer containing carrier protein (e.g., 0.1% BSA) and store aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
Storage:
- Lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 1 month.
- For long-term storage, keep at -20°C.
- Working aliquots with carrier protein are stable for at least 3 months at -20°C to -80°C.
- Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
Defensins are microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides involved in host defense. They are abundant in neutrophil granules and epithelial surfaces of mucosal tissues such as the intestine, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and vagina. Members share a conserved cysteine motif and high sequence similarity.
Defensin alpha 1 is localized in neutrophil microbicidal granules and contributes to phagocyte-mediated host defense. Several alpha-defensin genes are clustered on chromosome 8, and this gene differs from defensin alpha 3 by one amino acid. Both genes are subject to copy number variation.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
