• Reconstitution:
  Briefly centrifuge the vial prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom.
  Reconstitute in sterile, distilled water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL.
  Further dilutions should be made in aqueous buffers supplemented with carrier protein (e.g., 0.1–1.0% BSA).

• Storage:
  The lyophilized preparation is stable at 2–8°C, but should be kept at -20°C for long-term storage, preferably desiccated.
  Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2–8°C.
  For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20°C.
  Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

Defensins are microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides produced by neutrophils. Members of the defensin family share high sequence similarity.
This gene encodes defensin beta 1, an antimicrobial peptide involved in epithelial defense against microbial colonization.
It is located near the defensin alpha 1 gene and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis.
