Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).


Target Information

CD40 is a single-chain glycoprotein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor/nerve growth factor superfamily. It shows significant homology to the Hodgkin’s disease-associated antigen CD30.
CD40 is expressed on all B cells except plasma cells and also found on certain epithelial cells, carcinomas, and lymphoid dendritic cells. It plays a crucial role in immune and inflammatory responses including:

  • T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching
  • Memory B cell development
  • Germinal center formation

The transcription factor AKNA regulates CD40 expression, facilitating homotypic cell interactions. TNFR2 interacts with CD40 as a signal transduction mediator.
CD40–ligand interaction is implicated in amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, an early event in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
Diseases associated with CD40 dysfunction include Type 3 Hyper-IgM immunodeficiency and CD40 ligand deficiency.
